Off-Grid Score for land listings

Browsing land on Zillow, Redfin or LandWatch? The free GoOffGrid extension puts a small panel in the corner of each listing with the county's off-grid score, its verdict, and two things to check in that county before you make an offer. One click opens the free Off-Grid Score for that parcel, with its coordinates already filled in.

What the panel shows

The county is not the parcel

The panel's number describes the county's typical private rural land, from our survey of every US county. One parcel can score well above or below its county: a creek, a flood zone, a steep slope or a deep water table changes the answer from one property to the next. The panel says so on every listing, and the free Off-Grid Score reads the records at the parcel's own coordinates.

Where it works

Zillow, Redfin, Realtor.com, LandWatch, Land.com, Lands of America, Land And Farm, LandSearch.

County scores cover the US. On a Canadian listing the panel says so and still offers the free Off-Grid Score, which covers Canada too. If a listing does not publish its location, the panel offers the form without it, and you can paste the address.

What it sends, and what it does not

The extension sends only the listing's coordinates to gooffgrid.tools to look up the county. It stores nothing about you and reads no other pages. On your computer it keeps two settings (whether you made the panel smaller, and the sites where you chose “Hide on this site”) and, until you close the browser, the county answers it already looked up. Details are in our privacy policy.

Looking at one parcel?

You do not need the extension for that. Paste its address or GPS coordinates into the free form.
